Moss
New York, New York
For Moss’s three food and beverage destinations—Babette, Lil’s, and Inklings—we developed the naming and visual identities as a connected series, each space unfolding a different chapter within a shared world of dining, music, and conversation.
Babette, the club’s signature restaurant, is inspired by the elegance of historic European dining and New York’s long tradition of social ritual. Its identity balances softness and structure, drawing from candlelit tables, crisp linens, and the patina of well-loved interiors. Expressive typography and a warm, restrained palette create a language rooted in generosity, artistry, and the pleasure of gathering.
Lil’s, a piano lounge and bar, takes its name from jazz pioneer Lil Hardin Armstrong and reflects the rhythm and confidence of her legacy. The identity is musical in both tone and composition, built through bold typography, loose alignments, and a mostly monochromatic palette accented by subtle moments of contrast and shine.
Inklings, the library bar, introduces a sene of play and imagination; anchored by a series of illustrated characters by Catherine Potvin. These forms animate the identity, working in dialogue with typography that shifts, overlaps, and spills across the page. A muted palette of pinks and blues, paired with generous negative space, creates a mood that feels curious, intimate, and quietly theatrical.
